Alignerr Review (2026): My $75-$95/hr Pay and Payment Only for Passing Tasks
These reviews distinguish my paid work and application experience from advertised rates and other workers' reports. Some links are referral links that pay me at no cost to you. Full disclosure.
Alignerr has paid me between $75 and $95 per hour on a project advertised at $80-$120 per hour. Alignerr has always paid me for the work that qualified for payment. This particular role was designed to pay hourly only when a task passed.
In one case, I spent four hours on a task that did not pass and received no payment under those terms. My concern is the risk built into that pay structure, not Alignerr failing to pay money it owed me.
That distinction matters more to me than the highest rate on a listing. When I have an active contract, task supply has been high, but acceptance rules can leave time unpaid. I found the work on my project tedious and less enjoyable than work on other platforms. That may reflect the particular project I was on; other Alignerr projects may be more enjoyable.
The bigger catch is getting onto paid work. Completing the initial application is not the hard part, but applications can stay in limbo. Sometimes an applicant receives a project evaluation and still does not progress to paid work. In my experience, project managers have not been very communicative either.
Apply to roles that fit expertise you can honestly demonstrate. You can keep about seven applications active at once. When an application is approved or denied, you can apply for another role.
If an application has sat in Applied for a long time, it may be worth withdrawing it and using that slot for a newer role that fits you. I would fill the available slots with relevant applications, then carry on with other platforms until Alignerr responds.
What the work is
The roles are all AI training or AI evaluation work: ranking code, reviewing model answers, building benchmarks, judging agentic coding behavior, and contributing domain expertise in robotics, finance, accounting, or Lua scripting.
The strongest fit is someone with a concrete skill that can be tested:
- software engineers who can review code quality and model-generated solutions
- robotics people with ML, MuJoCo, Isaac, Gazebo, or simulation experience
- finance people who can model in Python or review analyst-style outputs
- Lua or Roblox developers who can judge scripting answers
My advertised rate, actual pay, and unpaid work
| What I observed on one project | My experience |
|---|---|
| Advertised rate | $80-$120/hr |
| Rates I have received | $75-$95/hr for passing tasks |
| Payment structure on this role | Hourly pay conditional on the task passing |
| Payment reliability | All qualifying work has been paid |
| One task that did not pass | Four hours of work, $0 due under those terms |
The rates I received are not an all-in hourly average. I would need to include unpaid work and total time across the project to calculate that. The rejected task is one specific experience; it does not establish a rejection rate for the platform.
Rates advertised on other roles
Alignerr posts a rate on most roles now, and the spread is wide. These ranges come from actual listings on my dashboard in July 2026:
| Role type | Listed range |
|---|---|
| Language experts (French, Chinese, Korean, etc.) | $20–$35/hr |
| Voice / speech recording | $40–$80/hr |
| Code ranking & general coding | $50–$90/hr |
| Backend Python & senior/agentic coding | $60–$120/hr |
| AI security & red-team testing | $40–$120/hr |
| Finance modeling & analyst review | $60–$100/hr |
| STEM Masters/PhD experts (bio, math, physics, materials) | $75–$90/hr |
| Robotics ML & simulation (MuJoCo, Isaac, Gazebo) | $100–$200/hr |
| Lean 4 / formal-math formalization | $170–$200/hr |
A few specifics from roles that were open to me: Software Engineer – Backend $90–$120/hr, Senior Software Engineer – Agentic Coding $80–$120/hr, Senior Software Engineer – AI Evaluation & Benchmarks $80–$100/hr, Backend Python $60–$90/hr, AI Red Team Tester $40–$120/hr, and Software Engineer – AI Code Ranking $50–$70/hr.
The rate is real, but remember it only matters once you clear the evaluation and actually get on the project — which can involve a long wait without a clear outcome.
Pick the Alignerr role that matches you
Use the specific link for your background. Remember you can only keep about 7 applications active at a time, so spend them where you match best:

| Robotics ML Expert | ML people with robotics or MuJoCo experience | $100–$150/hr | Apply |
| Robotics Simulation Engineer | Simulation engineers using MuJoCo, Isaac, Gazebo, or similar tools | $180–$200/hr | Apply |
| Senior Software Engineer - AI Evaluation & Benchmarks | Senior Python engineers who can build and judge AI benchmarks | $80–$100/hr | Apply |
| Senior Software Engineer - Agentic Coding | Senior engineers who understand code agents and autonomous coding workflows | $80–$120/hr | Apply |
| Senior Software Engineer | Senior engineers for broader AI systems or evaluation work | $60–$100/hr | Apply |
| Senior Software Engineer - AI Evaluation | Senior engineers focused on evaluating model intelligence and outputs | $50–$100/hr | Apply |

Downsides
A few honest ones from actually working here:
- Applications can stay in limbo. Completing the application is straightforward, but a response or a project evaluation does not guarantee paid work.
- Limited application slots. You can keep about seven applications active at once. An approval or denial frees a slot; a stalled application may be worth replacing with a newer one that fits your expertise.
- Enjoyment depends on the project. I found my project tedious compared with work on other platforms, but other Alignerr projects may be more enjoyable.
- Quiet project managers. PM communication is weak, so you often have to chase status and figure things out yourself.
- Specialization. This is not the first platform I would send a general beginner to unless one of the roles is an obvious match.
This role paid hourly only for tasks that passed. Alignerr has paid me reliably under those terms. The drawback is that four hours spent on one task earned nothing because it did not pass. Before investing time, check whether the role pays for all hours worked or only hours on tasks that pass.
Verdict: who should apply
Most people with relevant domain expertise should apply. Fill your roughly seven available application slots with roles that fit, then put Alignerr aside until you hear back. You do not need to spend every day checking for a response.
Alignerr has paid me reliably for qualifying work. If an offer arrives, read the project’s pay structure before accepting: my role paid hourly only for passing tasks, and one task that did not pass left four hours unpaid. Rates and the work itself vary by project.

Frequently asked questions
Is Alignerr legit?
Yes. Alignerr is a real AI training marketplace with role-specific application tracks for coding, robotics, finance, and other expert work.
How much does Alignerr pay?
My project advertised $80-$120 per hour, and I have received between $75 and $95 per hour on it. That is my experience, not a platform-wide average. Other projects pay much less or more depending on your expertise and the role. This role paid hourly only for tasks that passed. One task did not pass, leaving four hours unpaid under those terms, so the paid rate does not capture all time spent.
Which Alignerr role should I apply to?
Apply to roles that fit your domain expertise. You can keep about seven applications active at once; an approval or denial frees a slot. If an application stays in Applied for a long time, consider withdrawing it for a newer, relevant role.
Is it hard to get on a project on Alignerr?
Getting onto paid work can take time. Completing an application is straightforward, but applications often stay in limbo. Some applicants receive evaluations without progressing to paid work. I would apply to relevant roles and continue elsewhere while waiting.
Does Alignerr pay reliably?
Yes, Alignerr has always paid me for work that qualified for payment under the role's terms. This particular role paid hourly only for tasks that passed. One task did not pass, so four hours were unpaid under that pay structure; this was not a missed payment.
Should beginners apply to Alignerr?
If you have domain expertise that fits a role, applying is worthwhile even if you are new to AI training. Fill your available application slots with relevant roles, then continue elsewhere until you hear back.
